Indianapolis Welcomes NAT 2012
Famous for sporting events, including the Indianapolis 500, Brickyard 400, the Super Bowl and NCAA basketball Final Fours, the Indiana state capital is now hosting the North American Tunneling (NAT) show.
NAT is the premier event this year for underground construction in North America, and will be held June 24-27 at the J.W. Marriott in downtown Indianapolis. This year’s theme is “Tunneling: Driving Value,” and includes a range of technical presentations that cover all aspects of the tunneling market.
NAT is a forum for the exchange and dissemination of developments and advances in underground construction. NAT also provides quality programming. Issues covered in the program provide innovative solutions to the unique challenges associated with underground infrastructure.
NAT is sponsored and organized by the Underground Construction Association of SME (UCA). It is held in alternating years with the Rapid Excavation and Tunneling Conference (RETC), also run by UCA.
Indianapolis is the midst of a CSO control program that includes large tunneled sections. The first project to be awarded is the Deep Rock Tunnel Connector. The project is being constructed by a joint venture of Shea/Kiewit and includes 7 miles of 18-ft diameter sewer some 250 ft below ground.
The exhibit hall is always a highlight at NAT, and this year will be no exception. More than 110 companies will be on hand showcasing the latest products and advanced services in the marketplace. Below is a preview of some of the leading products and services that will be on display.
