The Rapid Excavation and Tunneling Conference (RETC) – North America’s largest tunneling event in 2015 – is heading to New Orleans June 7-10. The venue is the Sheraton New Orleans in the heart of downtown with easy access to Bourbon Street and other famous attractions.

The new Brokk 400 can handle attachments up to 1,420 pounds, and its hydraulic quick-hitch system eliminates the need for hard pinning, so operators can change attachments more quickly and easily and with less hassle. Developed by the Northwest Laborers-Employers Training Trust with input from a team of industry experts and stakeholders, the Safety Hazard Awareness for Tunnels (SHAFT) program seeks to fill a void by providing quality, comprehensive safety training for both new and experienced tunnel professionals. The curriculum is comprised of a blend of classroom discussion and use of materials and mockups in classes focusing on basic tunnel safety, rail, and utilities. Our facility, located in Elma, Wash., features a TBM mockup, loci, and access to 1,400 ft of 12-ft diameter tunnel, providing students with a unique, interactive educational experience.

The Robbins Company
The Robbins Company integrates over 60 years of experience and expertise into its Crossover Series of TBMs, a line of field-tested, rugged Dual-Mode type machines. Crossover TBMs feature aspects of two TBM types, and are ideal for mixed ground conditions that might otherwise require multiple tunneling machines. Robbins supplies three types of Crossover machines: the XRE (Crossover between Rock/EPB), the XSE (Crossover between Slurry/EPB), and XRS (Crossover between Rock/Slurry). Robbins Crossover TBMs are in operation on projects around the world, including those in Mexico, Turkey and Australia.

Tubificio Lombardo Srl is a worldwide leading enterprise in the manufacturing of welded steel tubes and mechanical jointed pipelines and fittings. Founded in 1994, the company is located in northern Italy. Tubificio Lombardo produces Quicklock grooved products (available in nominal sizes from 1 to 24 in.), irrigation type pipes and flanged pipes. The company’s pipes and fittings are widely employed as tunnel construction service pipes like water, air and slurry. Tubificio Lombardo can supply pipes and fittings with several types of coating/lining: black (suitable where pipelines are temporary), painted in a specific RAL, hot dip galvanizing (for pipe that needs long-lasting corrosion protection) and thermoplastic.
VMT

Brokk Inc. has upgraded its electric Brokk 400 remote-controlled demolition machine to include a larger undercarriage for heavy-tracking applications like tunneling and mining and for enhanced stability when operating with heavier attachments like metal shears and scabblers. The new Brokk 400 can handle attachments up to 1,420 pounds, and its hydraulic quick-hitch system eliminates the need for hard pinning, so operators can change attachments more quickly and easily and with less hassle.
