In July 2015, the TBM “Nannie” was lowered into the shaft near RFK stadium in Washington, D.C., the consulting firm Gall Zeidler reported on its website. The Nannie TBM will construct the approximately 2-mile Anacostia River Tunnel underneath southeast Washington. The tunnel is designed to capture and provide storage for combined sewer overflows (CSOs) being discharged to the Anacostia River. Gall Zeidler has played a major role on the Anacostia River Tunnel project, including providing both design and construction support services.
