WSP Honored at Canadian Consulting Engineer Awards

Two WSP in Canada projects have received national recognition at the 2025 Canadian Consulting Engineer awards. The awards were handed out at a gala celebration on Oct. 16 in Toronto.

The Bloor Street West Reconstruction project represented the redevelopment of an important stretch of one of Toronto’s most iconic streets. The reconstruction project was aimed at improving accessibility and safety along the stretch between Avenue Road and Spadina Avenue, which includes the Royal Ontario Museum, University of Toronto, shopping, and multiple transit and transportation connections.

“By working alongside the City of Toronto to introduce innovative solutions for protecting intersections, increasing visibility and improving resilience, we’ve helped transform a busy, multi-modal roadway into a safe, modern network to access some of the city’s greatest attractions,” said Corina Moore, Executive Vice-President, Transportation and Infrastructure, WSP in Canada.

WSP in Canada also received an Award of Excellence for its work on the Attawapiskat First Nation Emergency Water Supply Solution project. Following historically low levels of precipitation in the region, WSP was engaged by the Chief and Council to assess the impact of decreasing water level on the raw water supply (Intake Lake), and introduce a better more sustainable solution for the community drinking water supply. In turn, WSP was able to help create a system that both increased the raw water supply and significantly improved the drinking water quality for the community that would enable lifting the 17-year Drinking Water Advisory.

“The new treatment system deployed by our team helped improve access to raw water in the region, but also greatly improved the quality of water delivered to members of the community. Because of the innovative solution we helped deliver with the community’s support, the resilience of the water supply feeding Attawapiskat has been greatly improved,” said Rod Peters, Senior Project Manager, WSP in Canada.

The Attawapiskat project also received one of the evening’s special honors, earning the Engineering a Better Future Award “… which honours the project that best showcases how engineering enhances the social, economic or cultural quality of life of Canadians.”
