DFI Renames Two Technical Committees

Deep Foundations Institute (DFI) has renamed two of its technical committees to better reflect DFI’s evolving role within the geotechnical industry.

The Deep Foundations for Landslides and Slope Stabilization Committee has been renamed the Landslides and Slope Stabilization Committee, and the Subsurface Characterization for Deep Foundations Committee is now the Subsurface Characterization Committee.

“For decades, the word ‘deep’ in our name was understood primarily as a physical measurement. Today, it represents something much broader—the depth of expertise, innovation and technical excellence of our members,” says Theresa Engler, DFI executive director. “As DFI has grown and evolved, these updated committee names better reflect the breadth of technical challenges our members address and the expertise that positions DFI as a leader across the geotechnical industry.”

DFI is an international association of contractors, engineers, manufacturers, suppliers, academics and owners in the geotechnics industry. Its multidisciplinary membership creates a consensus voice and a common vision for continual improvement in geotechnical and geoenvironmental design, manufacturing and construction. The Institute brings together members for networking, education, communication and collaboration. With its members, DFI promotes the advancement of the industry through technical committees, educational programs and conferences, publications, research, government relations and outreach. DFI has more than 4,500 members worldwide.
