Jacobs Associates Expands Construction Management Leadership
Jacobs Associates Construction Managers (JACM), a division of Jacobs Associates dedicated to its construction management practice, continues to expand and recently hired two new associates.
John Critchfield, PE, Lead Associate, is serving as resident engineer on the Alaska Way Viaduct Program project in Seattle. He has close to 40 years of experience in geotechnical and underground engineering. Critchfield’s background includes a wide range of heavy civil projects with particular emphasis on tunneling. His project experience includes highway, transit and water/wastewater tunnels constructed by cut-and-cover, sequential excavation and tunnel boring machines. His roles have included construction management, design engineering, site investigations, planning, consultation, and research, as well as field supervision and office administration. Critchfield holds an MS in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois-Urbana, and a BS in Civil Engineering from the University of Missouri-Rolla.
Michael Kobler, Senior Associate, is serving as resident engineer on the Central Subway project team in San Francisco. He has more than 30 years of experience in providing services for public agencies and private companies in tunneling and underground construction. Kobler has successfully served as construction manager, resident engineer, cost estimator, scheduler, and consultant on a variety of tunnel projects. His expertise includes various types of tunneling equipment and methods such as the sequential excavation method (SEM), tunnel boring machines (TBM), earth pressure balance (EPB) machines, soft ground diggers, and drill and blast. Kobler holds a BS in Mining Engineering with a Management Option from the Montana School of Mines.
