Keller Group Acquires North American Caisson

Hayward Baker announces that the Keller Group has acquired the assets of North American Energy Partners’ piling division, known as North American Caisson (NAC). The acquisition was completed on July 15, 2013.

Following the acquisition, the company has been renamed Keller Foundations Ltd. However, it continues to operate under the existing management structure and company leadership.

The NAC acquisition increases Keller’s exposure to the energy and resources sector while expanding its presence in the Canadian geotechnical construction segment. Prior to being acquired, NAC had a 25-year track record of providing a broad range of piling-related solutions including drilled piles, driven piles, helical piles and earth retention systems, as well as pipeline anchor systems and tank services.

Based in Edmonton, Alberta, Keller Foundations Ltd. employs a staff of approximately 400 people. More than 250 projects were performed during the most recent fiscal year. The company operates in the commercial, public and industrial sectors, as well as the oil sands sector. Customers include leading engineering and construction contractors in Canada, some of whom are already served by Keller in markets outside Canada.

According to John Rubright, Managing Director of Keller North America, the acquisition is a good strategic fit. “NAC’s strong market position and presence in Canada complemented our current efforts in the Canadian market. Moreover, we expect that close collaboration will quickly develop between Keller Foundations Ltd., Geo-Foundations, Hayward Baker, Case, HB Wick Drains and other Keller businesses that operate in Canada,” he noted.

The acquisition of NAC is the second major Canadian acquisition by Keller in 2013. In January, Keller acquired Geo-Foundations, a Toronto-based geotechnical contractor offering micropiles, ground anchors and specialty grouting services.

The Keller Foundations Ltd. office is located at 2-53016 Highway 60, Acheson, AB, Canada.
