Khwaja to Lead JEC’s New England Practice

Khwaja to Lead JEC’s New England Practice Jenny Engineering Corporation (JEC), a COWI company, announced that Mahmood Khwaja, P.E., S.E., is now the New England Practice Lead. Khwaja, an accomplished geo-structural engineer with more than 25 years of experience, will be leading the business development and technical operations in the Northeastern United States.

Previously, Chief Project Manager at JEC, Khwaja specializes in the design of above and below ground structures. His experience includes cut-and-cover, mined, bored and jacked tunnels; analyzing complex soil-structure interaction behavior using numerical methods; analysis and design of above and below ground transit stations, tunnels, deep shafts, de-aeration chambers, large scale water structures, staged excavation, support of excavation systems, underpinning and soil improvement, and trenchless methods (HDD).

Located in COWI North America’s Massachusetts office, Mahmood’s new position is an exciting direction for COWI North America. Prior to this, JEC operated out of its Springfield, New Jersey, office. This geographical expansion opens opportunities for the tunnel business in the Northeast.
Scott Roux, President & Managing Director at JEC says, “Mahmood brings solid technical background coupled with a strong interest in business development to this new position and we are thrilled to set up more permanent operations in New England. COWI North America is growing rapidly and we anticipate that Mahmood’s presence and intimate knowledge of the area will help strengthen our existing New England relationships and help develop new ones.”
