Montreal Prepares for WTC 2026

The ITA World Tunnel Congress each year is the must-attend event for all those involved in the planning, design and construction of underground infrastructure, for roads, railways, hydro schemes, water and wastewater, flood control and urban planning on a grand and holistic scale.

In 2026, the International Tunnelling and Underground Space Association (ITA), in collaboration with the Tunnelling Association of Canada (TAC), invites clients, engineers and professionals associated with the underground infrastructure industry to meet fellow engineers, owners, contractors, manufacturers and suppliers at the WTC 2026 in Montréal, Quebec, May 15-21.

Under the Congress theme “Connecting Communities through Underground Infrastructure”:

  • All aspects of the planning, designing and building of underground space for all purposes will be discussed.
  • The latest in equipment, materials, products and services will be on display in the exhibition hall.
  • Sessions of the ITA Association operations, including the General Assembly and Working Group meetings, will be open to all to attend.

Topics of the multi-stream Technical Sessions across three days will include:

  • Contract Practices, Insurance, Risk Management
  • Site Investigation, Instrumentation, Monitoring
  • Excavation methods and Challenges
  • Immersed Tunnels
  • Caverns and Shafts
  • Microtunneling
  • Ground Support and Lining Design
  • Grouting, Groundwater Control, Waterproofing
  • Operation, Inspection, Maintenance, Rehabilitation
  • Operational Safety in Underground Works
