NAMA Welcomes HB Trenchless

The North American Microtunneling Association (NAMA) has announced its newest member: HB Trenchless. HB Trenchless joins the ranks of North America’s leading contractors in championing microtunneling and educating stakeholders on best practices.

HB Trenchless was formed in Houston, Texas, in January 2019 by brothers Jon Harper (CEO) and Joe Harper (CFO) to complement its parent company, Harper Brothers Construction LLC. In addition to Jon and Joe Harper, playing key roles in HB Trenchless’ development are vice presidents Tim McQueary, with more than 25 years of utility and civil construction experience, and Julian O’Connell, who began his tunneling career in the United Kingdom in the 1980s.

“Joining NAMA is a testament to HB Trenchless’ emergence as a leader in the marketplace,” O’Connell said. “We are pleased to join the esteemed members of the association in promoting microtunneling across North America.”

Since its formation, HB Trenchless has emerged as a skilled provider of trenchless and tunneling services of all kinds ranging in size from 30 to 144 in. HB Trenchless provides both subcontracting and prime contracting services.

HB Trenchless has recently completed the A1/A2 and Tidwell Projects where machines ranged from AVNs from 30- to 120-in. diameter installation, and digger shield and EPB to 136 in. Currently HB has active projects in Houston and Austin with all size ranges of AVNs to 115.5 in., including a recently completed 1,820-ft long drive.

NAMA was formed in 2012 to advance the interests of contractors heavily involved in microtunneling work in North America. NAMA seeks to promote interaction, dialogue and education to its members and to the public on issues of importance to microtunneling contractors in North America. NAMA now boasts 18 members.

Among its primary purposes is to provide a venue for microtunneling contractors to:

• meet and engage in discussion regarding issues of mutual interest
• foster education
• exchange views
• promote interaction with others having an interest in microtunneling
• be proactive to help engineers and owners to understand issues of importance to microtunneling contractors
• promote safety and advancement in the microtunneling industry.
