Fugro GeoServices Announces New Managing Director

Ross Stevens_photo Ross Stevens has been appointed Managing Director of Fugro GeoServices Ltd., the U.K.-based site characterization specialist. Stevens is a chartered civil engineer who joined Fugro Seacore in 2007 after a decade in project management and civil contracting.

In 2012, he was appointed deputy Managing Director of Fugro Engineers BV based in the Netherlands. He returned to Fugro Seacore as a director in 2015, ahead of its integration in October 2015 as part of Fugro GeoServices Ltd.

During his time at Fugro, Stevens has developed extensive experience in managing global marine site investigations in oil and gas and the renewables markets.

Commenting on the appointment Stevens said: “To be taking on the position of Managing Director is a great honor, especially at a time when Fugro is playing such a key role in site characterization for the U.K.’s new nuclear program and high speed rail network and supporting infrastructure projects around Europe.”

Stevens takes the reins from Marcus Rampley, who has steered Fugro GeoServices through its successful integration of U.K.-based Fugro specialists, marking an illustrious 37-year career in geotechnics.

Fugro GeoServices Ltd. brings together world-class expertise in geotechnics, geophysical investigation and marine drilling services. With over 500 employees as well as access to Fugro’s global resources, it undertakes seven key activities: nearshore geotechnics, offshore geotechnics, marine installation, onshore drilling, cone penetration testing, geophysics, and instrumentation and monitoring.

In its first year, Fugro GeoServices’ integrated offer has helped secure major contracts in the energy, transport, marine and civil engineering sectors in the U.K. and beyond. Key projects include site characterization for HS2 and for NuGeneration Ltd.’s Moorside Project, one of the largest U.K. site investigations to be let as a single package.
