Trenchless Technology Road Show Visits Niagara Falls

More than 400 participants and 63 exhibiting companies came to Niagara Falls, Ontario, May 28-29 for the Trenchless Technology Road Show. The biennial Road Shows in Canada are presented in partnership with Trenchless Technology magazine and the University of Waterloo’s Centre for Advancement of Trenchless Technologies (CATT). The number of participants and exhibitors represented substantial increases over 2012.

The two-day trade show and seminar was held at the ScotiaBank Convention Centre in the heart of Niagara Falls. The first day featured three concurrent tracks, including a track on microtunneling, while the second day had two concurrent tracks. The conference began with a keynote presentation by Dr. Penny Burns, a pioneering figure in the field of infrastructure asset management.

The microtunneling track was moderated by Seamus Tynan, Ward and Burke, and featured the following presentations:  Mechanized Trenchless Installations for Smaller Diameters, Dr. Gerhard Lang, Herrenknecht; Short Drive Microtunneling, John Currey/Gene Woodbridge, Earth Boring Company Ltd.; Microtunnelling Pipe, Maged Mekael, Munro Ltd.; DRILLPILOT: A New Measurement While Drilling System, Harald Krenn/Robert Graf, Zublin Inc.; Direct Pipe and HDD Used to Complete Tricky River Crossing, Glenn Duyvestyn, Hatch Mott MacDonald; Microtunnelling Overcomes Design and Construction Challenges to Accomplish Three Notable Firsts, Marc Gelinas, Hatch Mott MacDonald, Shu He, York Region, John Grennan, Ward and Burke Microtunnelling,and Armenio Martins, McNally Construction Inc.; and The Key for Curved Microtunneling, Stefan Truempi, Jackcontrol.
