Tunneling Underway in Cities of Vista and Carlsbad
The tunneling portion of a two-year project undertaken by the City of Vista and the City of Carlsbad is now underway. This project, which started in January 2016, will replace existing facilities, increase sewer capacity and improve reliability within the lower portion of the sewer system. The project begins at the north shore of the Agua Hedionda Lagoon in Carlsbad and extends a distance of 2.3 miles to the Encina Water Pollution Control Facility.
HOBAS Pipe USA is supplying 3,500 feet of 57-in. tunneling pipe and 5,500 ft of 54-in. for a direct bury portion of the project. They are also supplying over 34 fiberglass manholes and fittings. Pulice Construction of San Diego was awarded the contract and Nada Pacific of Caruthers, California, will install the tunneling section.
HOBAS is manufactured in sizes from 18 to 126 in. in pressure and non-pressure classes.
