Consultants for the United Kingdom’s High Speed 2, Phase 2, projects have been shortlisted, according to Construction News.

The four teams vying for the $461 million (US) professional services contract are Aecom/Capita/Ineco JV; Mott MacDonald/WSP Parsons Brinckerhoff JV; Atkins/Arcadis JV; and Arup.

Three teams shortlisted for the $224 million program delivery partner role are CH2M, Bechtel and Mace/Turner & Townsend JV.

The preferred bidders for both contracts are expected to be announced by the end of the year.

In March a joint venture between CH2M, Atkins and SENER was awarded a $461 million contract for engineering delivery partner for Phase 1.

High Speed 2 is a $73 billion program that would link London, Birmingham, Manchester, Sheffield and Leeds. High Speed 1 links London and the Channel Tunnel. Work on High Speed 2 is expected to begin in 2017 with full completion by 2033.
