SNWA Seeks RFPs for Low Lake Level Pumping Station Project

SNWA---Lake-Mead The Southern Nevada Water Authority (“Owner”) hereby invites interested persons or organizations, qualified as a construction manager/general contractor (“Applicants”), to submit written Proposals for the performance of construction manager at risk services for the Low Lake Level Pumping Station Project (“Project”). The design engineer is MW/Hill (joint venture between MWH Americas Inc. and CH2M Hill Inc).

Southern Nevada Water Authority is issuing this Request for Proposals (RFP) for a Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) for pre-construction and construction services pertaining to the Lake Mead Intake No. 3 Low Lake Level Pumping Station. The Project includes the construction of a 20-ft diameter, 525-ft deep shaft, a large underground forebay, 33 well shafts, the procurement and installation of deep submersible pumps, a motor control center with building, and electrical and other utility service connections and appurtenances. These improvements are in direct response to the continued drought and will enable the Owner to continue to supply water to Southern Nevada at very low lake levels.

Key details are as follows:

  •   Estimated Pre-Construction Phase:  May 2015 through October 2016
  •   Estimated Construction Phase (Multiple Packages):  September 2015 through April 2020
  •  OPINION OF PROBABLE CONSTRUCTION COST (OPCC):  $440 Million USD (Class 5 Estimate)

A Pre-Proposal Meeting will be conducted on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. in the Saguaro Room of the Alfred Merritt Water Treatment Facility, 243 Lakeshore Road, Lake Mead National Recreational Area. The purpose of this meeting is to provide an overview of the project and proposed scope of work, the draft terms, conditions and requirements contained in the RFP.

The RFP will be available beginning Thursday, February 5, 2015. Responses to this RFP must be received in the Owner’s Engineering Department, 100 City Parkway, 7th Floor, Las Vegas, Nevada, 89106 by Thursday, March 19, 2015, no later than 4:00 p.m.  Proposals received after the established deadline will not be accepted and will be returned without further consideration in the evaluation process. Proposals are not publicly opened, in accordance with NRS 332.061(2). Proposals submitted by fax or email will not be accepted.
